NORTH DAKOTA -- A Minot man says he was just being a good neighbor when he sprang into action to help a woman being attacked by a pit bull.
Jay Hight says he was in his garage when he heard the woman screaming. The dog had clamped its jaws onto her arm.
Hight says he grabbed a bat and started whacking the dog so that it would free the woman. He says the dog let go of the woman, but began attacking her dog.
The station reports Hight and other neighbors struggled with the pit bull until it freed the woman's dog.
The Minot woman was not identified.
Police say the dog's owner will be cited for violating Minot's ban on pit bull breeds.
