It all began as a mother duck was walking her babies along the street when she led them over
a sewer grate.
One by one, the ducklings tumbled into the sewer.
Neighbors notified authorities and the Brecksville firefighters responded to the scene.
After prying open the grate, one firefighter lowered himself into the sewer with a narrow ladder as the animal warden handed down a net.
The firefighter was able to scoop up the 10 or so ducklings and all were reunited with their mom.
"There was a lot of chirping going on down there," one of the firemen said.
There is a large retention pond in the neighborhood in which the ducks call home. They were last seen swimming in their natural habitat.
