The Bradley County Sheriff's Department issued a warrant for one count of cruelty to animals Thursday night.

Rebecca Van Meter was arrested and processed at the Bradley County jail.  She is free after posting a $500 bond.

  1. I think 'several' is not quite the word we're looking for when talking about over 150 animals... :) I will say this much for the animals... they don't look starved or glaringly neglected like most animal hoarder victims. It appears she possesses quite a few juvenile pit bulls and pitbull crosses... methinks it might be prudent for the authorities to watch this lady and tail anyone she seems to regularly doing business with... they might just find a trail to a dog-fighting operation.

This is all gross musing, of course.... I'm just surprised that someone with that many animals could afford at least enough to keep a good number (what we can see from the photographs) from looking skeletal or matted and dirty. My folks used to shell out $100-150 a month in dry food for just a miniature schnauzer and a geriatric lab/collie mix. Even if all the dogs she possessed were toy breeds, it must be costing her quite a bit to keep them even close to adequately fed. o_O Again, mere speculation; I don't try to assert things as truths without having the whole story.

    1. I just saw this and to answer the question of how she affords to feed them - she charges an exorbitant fee for the dogs. I spoke with a man recently who innocently paid $1200 for one of her "pocket beagle" puppies.
