Georgia: Pit bull attacks girl at neighborhood pool

GEORGIA -- An 11-year-old girl walking near her neighborhood pool was attacked by a pit bull, according to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the incident report, the young girl was walking on the sidewalk near the pool at Oak Manor subdivision in Newton County around 3 p.m. Saturday when a large pit bull that had escaped from its kennel attacked and bit the girl multiple times.

“The witnesses also stated that the girl was walking along the sidewalk when the dog got loose and ran toward the girl, and as the juvenile attempted to get away, the dog bit her on both hands multiple times,” the report states.

The girl’s mother took her to the emergency room at Newton Medical Center before the deputy arrived on the scene; however, the dog was secured and turned over to Newton County Animal Control, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
