Trial date set for Athens man accused of killing kittens

ALABAMA -- A man accused of buying kittens off the Internet to kill at his Athens home will go to trial in September.

Ronald Fraser Golden, 48, has a jury trial set for Sept. 15 in Limestone County Circuit Court, according to court records.

Golden was arrested in October after Athens police, acting on a tip from neighbors, searched his home. Police said they found five dead kittens and blood on the walls and floors in his house.

Golden is charged with 22 counts of animal cruelty. Police said he admitted buying the kittens off of Craigslist.
