PENNSYLVANIA -- A mother and daughter who were evicted from their Kensington home Tuesday will be charged with animal cruelty for keeping at least 15 cats in unsanitary conditions, the Pennsylvania SPCA said.
Philadelphia police reported the situation after enforcing a court-ordered eviction obtained by the landlord at the home in the 1800 block of East Letterly Street, the PSPCA said. The women were not identified.
"We need to remove these cats and evaluate their medical conditions," said George Bengal, director of humane law enforcement for the PSPCA. "The home is covered in feces and is not a healthy environment for them."
