UTAH -- Police say a 47-year-old Lehi man has confessed to poisoning his neighbors' dog after officers confronted him.
Lehi police Sgt. Jeff Swenson said the man admitted to intentionally poisoning the dog that died last week. A second dog that belongs to another family a few houses over also became ill, and Swenson said police are waiting on lab results for that animal.
KSL-TV reports a veterinarian who treated the dogs believes they were fed the rodent poison strychnine. Both started experiencing seizures on July 1.
The man could face a misdemeanor animal cruelty charge. His case is being forwarded to the Utah County District Attorney's Office for review.
Melanie Green, whose dog was killed, tells KUTV her family bought a new puppy and is trying to move on.
