Dog sitter charged in death of two elderly dogs allegedly left in hot car

NEW YORK -- Police have arrested a Warwick pet sitter who allegedly caused the death of two elderly dogs in her care after she left them in a car outside her home.

Nancy Evans, 67, of Magnolia Lane, was arrested Friday.

She was charged with two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty and two counts of confining them in a vehicle in extreme temperature, a violation.

“We conducted many interviews and this is a result of it,” said Lt. John Rader of the Warwick Police Department.

The two dogs, Cody and Lola, were owned by Sandi Maddock of Warwick.

Cody, 15, was an all-white rescue Jack Russell terrier and poodle mix. Lola, 11, was a Westie and American Eskimo Dog mix.
