NORTH CAROLINA -- A city man is facing animal cruelty charges after police say he mistreated and then abandoned his Rottweiler.
Edgardo Margarito Vasquez Cruz, of Deaverview Road, was charged with cruelty to animals and abandonment of an animal, according to warrants at the Buncombe County magistrate’s office.
According to warrants, Cruz “unlawfully and willfully did intentionally torment” his 2-year-old male Rottweiler named Zeus.
Asheville police animal services investigated.
Cruz was released on a written promise to appear in court.
