Emaciated dogs rescued from BC home

MICHIGAN - Officers in Battle Creek rescued several animals from a home Friday evening and are now investigating an animal cruelty and neglect case.

The incident happened at around 5 p.m. in the first block of East Avenue south in Battle Creek.
Police said they responded to the area after receiving an animal complaint. A witness saw an
emaciated dog jump from a second-story window of the home and contacted officials.

When officers arrived at the home, they found more dogs in the residence who appeared to be emaciated as well. There was no one home during the incident.

Officers returned to the home with a search warrant and rescued seven dogs and two cats. The animals were turned over to an animal shelter.

The incident remains under investigation and criminal charges may be pending.
