TENNESSEE -- A Jackson man is facing an animal cruelty charge after neighbors say they saw him beat and kick a dog, according to police.
Derek Lamont Marshall is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals after neighbors saw him on the porch of a Lambuth Boulevard home striking a dog with a long object and kicking it, according to court papers.
An Animal Control worker responded to the scene and said the dog had three missing teeth and a broken leg, according to the report. She said the dog would be examined for further injuries.
Marshall is being held on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 25 in Jackson City Court for his preliminary hearing.
