Ohio: Two emaciated dogs seized from Medina County home; Augusta and Burdett Crandell charged with animal cruelty

OHIO -- Two emaciated dogs were seized from a home in Seville on Thursday.

The Medina County SPCA received a report of animal cruelty from an anonymous tipster which prompted the investigation.

SPCA employees responded to the Seville home and rescued Andor, a 7-year-old to 8-year-old pit bull mix, and Abu, a 3-year-old boxer.

  

 

SPCA employees said Sunday Abu (who was named after the monkey in Disney's Aladdin movie) is doing well, though still very thin. He is on a special diet where he has to eat three times a day, closely monitored.

Andor (whose name means bravery) was still in the hospital Sunday. He has some neurological issues that will have to be addressed.

"We ask people not to call to try to adopt because it could be some time before they're put up for adoption," said Medina County SPCA director of operations Tracey Miller.

 

  

Medina County SPCA is asking for donations to help cover the dogs’ medical bills, as they are increasing daily.

Medina County SPCA confirms that Abu and Andor's owners, Augusta Crandell (aka Augusta Crandall) and Burdett Crandell (aka Burdett Crandall), of Seville, are both charged with six counts of animal cruelty.
