TENNESSEE -- A Whitehaven woman who was warned about her malnourished dogs last year is charged with five counts of animal cruelty, according to Memphis police.
Police responded to a fire call in the 1900 block of Victoria Sunday and found five dogs who appeared malnourished, officers said.
Animal control responded and found that all the dogs were malnourished and injured, according to an affidavit. The animal control officer told police the woman got a citation in 2013 concerning the dogs.
Virginia Sharp, 62, is charged with five counts of aggravated cruelty to animals. She was released from jail on her own recognizance Sunday. She is due in court Monday morning.
