NEW YORK -- A Bath woman has been charged with animal cruelty after leaving her dog confined in a hot car, Elmira City Animal Control said.
Francis Hadley, 18, of Bath, was charged Tuesday with one count of animal cruelty, animal control said. Hadley left her dog confined in a car under extreme temperatures while she was shopping at Walmart in the Town of Horseheads, animal control said.
When officers arrived, the car's interior temperature exceeded 116 degrees, animal control said.
Hadley is due to appear in Horseheads Town Court on Sept. 25, animal control said.
