COLORADO -- Thanks to the efforts of a Colorado Springs firefighter, a cat trapped in a burning apartment made it out unharmed.
Cradling the cat in his arms, the firefighter carried the skittish family pet to safety.
The other occupants, an adult and teen, were able to escape from the apartment on their own and were uninjured.
The fire started Monday evening at an apartment complex on El Camino Drive, near Academy and Meadowland. The fire department says the fire was in a second story unit. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames quickly before it spread to neighboring units.
The extent of damage to the unit is unknown, but CSFD says that the two occupants and the cat will be displaced.
