MARYLAND -- A Maryland woman is speaking out after her dog was killed in a vicious attack. The woman says she watched in horror as two dogs killed her pet.
One of the dogs is still on the loose in the neighborhood.
Clinton neighbors say it is like having monsters outside their homes. They say it is not uncommon to carry a stick as wild pit bulls roam their streets.
“They ate him literally in front of my eyes,” said Robyn Brandon.
She says her small dog J.J. was eaten Sunday as two pit bulls attacked her pet while he was sitting on the front step.
“There were two [pit bulls] right here and the biggest one was like flipping him around, taking his paw and hitting him,” she described to incident to us in her front yard. “As soon as I came out of my door, I was screaming. The dog looked back at me and then snapped down on his neck.”
Residents say the pit bulls are getting into their neighborhood from a trail where a wooded area and creek are located.
Brandon learned the dogs that attacked hers were from two miles away. Animal control did catch the small pit bull and contacted its owner. But the larger pit bull in the attack continues to roam while threatening neighbors every step.
“There's something that's got to be with these dogs out here running loose,” said one neighborhood resident. “They're wild. There could have been kids and somebody walking down the street.”
There is a hearing pending for the owner of the pit bull that was caught. That animal may be put down.
Prince George's County police are stepping up patrols in the neighborhood to find that wandering dog.
