North Carolina: Cecil Streeter, 52, starved dog to death on purpose, say police

NORTH CAROLINA -- A man who lived near Garner faces a felony charge of intentionally starving a dog to death last month by leaving it outside on a chain without food, water or shelter.

Wake County sheriff’s deputies arrested Cecil Tony Rydell Streeter, 52, after stopping him on U.S. 70 near Raynor Road Saturday evening.

In an arrest warrant, deputies charged that between Oct. 14 and 17, Streeter intentionally deprived a dog of “necessary sustenance” by leaving it on a 7-foot chain outside without food, water or shelter, and the dog starved to death.

Deputies did not saw how old the dog was or list its breed.

Streeter was listed on the arrest warrant as living at 4528 Bushy Branch Drive, southeast of Garner. He gave booking officers at the Wake County Detention Center an address of 2378 N.C. 123 in Hookerton in Greene County.

Streeter was in custody Monday on $15,000 bail and was scheduled for a court appearance.
