New Hampshire: Sex offender NICK COLL, who'd been busted with kiddie porn in 2005, busted for raping dog in 2007 gets busted AGAIN for bestiality... gets just 1 year in jail. I'm sure that the DA's office wonders on days like this, "Why bother?"

NEW HAMPSHIRE -- A Keene man convicted of two of 16 counts of animal cruelty, for having sex with dogs, is serving a one-year jail sentence.

Nicholas Adam Coll (aka Nick Coll), 25, is prohibited from owning, caring for and working with animals for 10 years, according to a sentencing order prepared by Cheshire County Superior Court Judge John C. Kissinger Jr.

Kissinger also ordered Coll to give away or sell his pets.

Coll was convicted this summer of two felony counts of cruelty to animals, for performing sex acts on RAPING a German shepherd and a yellow Labrador retriever, according to court documents.

Those acts occurred in March of 2012 and May of 2012 at Coll’s former home at 170 Pearl St.

As a part of a plea deal, prosecutors dismissed 12 additional charges of cruelty to animals that accused Coll of having sex with RAPING dogs.

Two alternative charges were also dropped; those indictments included one-year time spans in which the authorities said the crimes occurred rather than specified dates. Each charge alleged a different sex act on a different day.

Police officers searched the home where Coll lived as a part of an ongoing probe into the homicide of his then-roommate, David E. Wheelock.

Wheelock, 48, was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds inside the home on the evening of Dec. 21. No one has been arrested in connection with the homicide. Assistant N.H. Attorney General Benjamin J. Agati has said previously the probe is unrelated to the Coll case.

Coll will be on probation for four years following his release from the Cheshire County jail in Keene. He must also be of good behavior for 10 years, or the court could impose a suspended two- to four-year N.H. State Prison sentence.

Kissinger ordered Coll to undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation and to follow through with all recommendations of that evaluation, according to the sentencing order.

Coll was previously convicted of having sex with RAPING a 3-year-old golden retriever named Katie in the second-floor bedroom of an abandoned house in Hancock in 2007, according to court documents. He was 18 years old at the time.

A 29-page arrest affidavit in the Keene case details the graphic photographs and short video clips police found on a digital camera in December 2013 that led to Coll’s arrest a few weeks later.

Digital files capture Coll and other men performing sex acts on RAPING two German shepherds — one of which is identified as Coll’s then-dog Miya — and a Labrador retriever named Murphy, which Wheelock owned, according to the affidavit.

Data on a laptop computer further led investigators to online profiles that Coll and Wheelock created to talk with others about their bestiality — sexual abuse of animals — the affidavit shows.

Coll created an online account in January 2012, and wrote about his frustration over people viewing him differently because of his 'relationship' with animals, according to the affidavit.

Wheelock was convicted of 28 counts of child pornography in October 2005, according to the N.H. Department of Safety’s sex offender registry.

Coll has been incarcerated since January, and was credited with 169 days already served at the time of his sentencing.
