GEORGIA -- The Burke County Sheriff's Department is looking for the owner of six puppies found behind a trailer off Twin Lakes Drive November 13th.
Five of the dogs were dead and one was found alive in a cage. Deputies said some of the dogs were decomposing and had been buried. At least one still had a collar on and was attached to a chain.
“They didn't appear to be malnourished,” Sgt. Dan Lowe said. “They could have died from dehydration, [but] we do not know how they died,” Sgt. Dan Lowe said.
Sgt. Lowe said the owner of the trailer was renting it out at the time and several people had lived there. But none of the dogs are believed to belong to the renters.
The owner of the dogs is facing animal cruelty charges and deputies are asking the for the public's help.
The dog found alive was removed by the trailer owner.
