VIRGINIA -- A flyaway frisbee results in a gruesome discovery- a dead puppy, and two others in need of help. Now, a Chesterfield woman is facing charges for the crime.
Meda Williams is charged with several counts of animal cruelty and is due in court Tuesday. We talked to Williams by phone and she told us she had nothing to say and didn't care if we reported the story.
Here are the charges; two misdemeanors and a felony against Meda Williams. Police confirm a boxer mix puppy was found dead at her home. And they say two other dogs- pit/boxer mixes were found neglected. Only discovered, because of children playing nearby.
Neighbors say they were chasing a frisbee into the yard. That's when they saw the metal crate on the deck. They say on the inside, was one dead puppy and another puppy that needed help. That's when they say they called animal control.
"If you're going to have a puppy dog and you're not going to take care of it, you got no business with it," said a neighbor who wishes to remain anonymous.
Neighbors say the puppy died the same day it arrived at the home. Right now - police aren't sure why it died exactly, that's part of the investigation.
Neighbors say they brought water and food to the adult dog, which they say had been neglected for some time.
"We never saw them period come out. That little dog stayed out 24-7. And you can see- no shelter, no house- nothing over there," the neighbor told us.
We went to Meda William's home- rang the door bell, and knocked on the door. There was no answer, but we did see someone looking through the blinds and heard a dog barking inside.
Neighbors say the family brought a dog home, the day after police took the other three away.
Williams has her next court date Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m.
