MAINE -- A Columbia Falls man is going to jail for four days for abusing a horse.
54-year-old Chester Grant was also fined $300 after pleading guilty Wednesday to aggravated animal cruelty and assault.
Grant hit the horse with a piece wood in June while the town’s animal control officer was trying to help get the horse back to Grant’s family property.
Grant then tied the horse to his car on a short lead, forcing it to run while he drove.
When the animal control officer tried to take the horse away from Grant, he punched her.
Grant will also have to serve two years probation.
