PENNSYLVANIA -- A dead horse and a goat were found at 22818 Cemetery Road in Venango Township.
Vets on the scene said they both had been dead for a few months.
A neglected mare was also discovered on the property, believed to be about 25-years-old and covered in dirt and mud. The couple who owns the animals is said to be elderly and could no longer care for them.
The couple was amicable during the two-hour visit, and signed the surviving horse over to the ANNA Shelter which has taken the horse to their facilities for rehabilitation.
Robyn Roseberry with The ANNA Shelter says the horse had no food or water in her pasture and had just weeds to eat.
State police are pursuing charges of cruelty to animals.
