NEW YORK -- A Richfield Springs man faces several charges -- including animal cruelty -- in connection with a dispute Thursday, New York State Police said.
Gary D. Garbera, 23, of Richfield Springs, is charged with unlawful imprisonment, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal mischief and cruelty to animals.
According to authorities, troopers responded to a home on Main Street on Thursday after a 911 call reported a dispute. During the dispute, Garbera allegedly punched the walls and window, causing damage.
He also is accused of grabbing the victim and prohibiting the victim from leaving, as well as grabbing a pet cat and throwing it to the ground, injuring the animal.
He was sent to Otsego County Jail on $500 cash bail. An order of protection was issued against him.
