ORGEON -- Another case of animal abuse has surfaced in Lincoln County, this time just north of Waldport, off Beaver Creek Road at the residence of Shaundra Voyles (also found spelled Shaunda Voyles aka Shaunda Lorraine Voyles), 50.
Deputies say they received a tip that livestock and companion animals were living in very substandard conditions.
After a preliminary examination of the situation a search warrant was sought and awarded to investigators to go onto the property and conduct an inventory of the animals and their living conditions. Accompanying the deputies were investigators from the state office of the Humane Society. Some of the animals were found to be in need of veterinary care.
All toll, 17 horses, 3 goats, 8 chickens, 13 cats, 3 dogs and one exotic bird were seized as evidence.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse helped in the removal and transportation of the animals which were placed in foster care. The Humane Society says the animals will receive ongoing veterinary care as needed.
Investigators said the animals on Shaundra Voyles’ property were living in “deplorable conditions, and were obviously lacking in basic care to keep them healthy and safe.”
Humane Society State Director Scott Beckstead said “We applaud the sheriff’s office for taking swift action in the matter and we hope Ms. Voyles is aggressively prosecuted, appropriately punished and that the animals move on to better lives.”
Sheriff’s investigators say the case is still in its investigative stage. They say criminal charges are expected to be filed with the District Attorney’s Office.
