K-9 Deputy Pleads Not Guilty In Douglas County Dog Attack Case

COLORADO -- A Douglas County K-9 deputy has pleaded not guilty in a case involving his dog.

The Thornton Police Department said Douglas County sheriff’s deputy Greg Wilson was not on duty but was on call and handling the K-9 unit, a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois named Freia, when it escaped from his vehicle and mauled and killed an 11-year-old shih tzu named Annie.

Wilson faces charges for the dog escaping and for the dog attacking another animal.

Both Wilson and the K-9 are back at work.

  1. How is he NOT guilty? He lost total control of his dog. He should not be allowed to be in the K-9 unit.
