Police officials said the warrants are for one count each of assault, cruelty to animals and euthanasia.
The assault charge was filed with Jacksonville Police Department, and it is believed to have been filed by a former employee of the animal shelter. That has not yet been confirmed at this time.
The Cherokee County District Attorney's Office filed the cruelty to animals and euthanasia warrants.
Daniel said more charges on Wallace are forthcoming, and he said warrants for two other people associated with Klein Animal Shelter have been issued.
“We certainly anticipate more arrests as time goes on,” Daniel said.
Jacksonville Police Detective Tonya Harris was the investigator on the case, according to Daniel.
This dog, named Henry, was brought to the shelter with a broken back after being hit by a car. He was left in a cage for a week without care. |
“This is because of a six-month investigation based on complaints from citizens,” Daniel said.
Wallace was taken into custody about 10 a.m. Friday at the shelter.
One of the charges was based on a dog that had a broken back and was not taken to a veterinarian, according to sources.
