Arizona: Serial cat hoarder and animal abuser, Lucienne Touboul, caught hoarding cats for 4th time

ARIZONA -- For the fourth time since 2007, an elderly Arizona woman is under investigation for cat hoarding.

When Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies got word that 85-year-old Lucienne Touboul was in the hospital and no one was looking after her animals, they went to her home in Wittmann.

They say about 36 cats were seized Wednesday and more were being rounded up on the property about 30 miles northwest of Phoenix.

Sheriff's officials say cats were found in various states of severe distress and Touboul should be facing animal abuse charges.

Officials say this makes a total of 208 cats removed from Touboul's home in the past five years.

In 2012, a search warrant was served at Touboul's Wittmann home, more than 60 animals were seized and Touboult was arrested.

In July of 2010, more than 100 cats were found in Touboul's home. At the time, many of the cats were diseased or dying and nine were found in the home's refrigerator.

Touboul reportedly told deputies she was using the pet cats to make "feline stew."

In 2007, deputies found 70 cats in Touboul's home, with many of those having to be euthanized, while others were placed in foster homes.
