Comanche County Sheriff's Office releases statement on Emu abuse investigation

TEXAS -- The Comanche County Sheriff's office released a statement Tuesday in regard to the ongoing animal abuse investigation allegedly regarding an emu and an area high school party.
 
The release included the following information:

The Comanche County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the theft and beating death of an Emu that occurred in the County. The incident began in the early morning hours of February 15th during a party attended by a large number of area high school kids.

 The Sheriff's Office has interviewed many of the kids in attendance at the party and has also obtained pictures and video taken at the party.

The Sheriff's Office anticipates charges to be forthcoming up to and including: animal cruelty, theft, illegal dumping, criminal trespass and criminal mischief. This is an active investigation with deputies still following up on leads and talking to further witnesses.
