Dogs Linked To Attack Now Being Held By Humane Society

NEBRASKA -- A dog involved in the death of another has been seized by the Nebraska Humane Society after a second issue has arose.

The WOWT 6 News Fact Finders team learned that the owner of the two German Shepherds, Lionel Mora, was cited for "improper restraint," for a second time.

The first time he was cited came when a smaller dog, a neighbor's Schnauzer was injured badly enough that "Baxter" had to be euthanized.

Initially the Nebraska Humane Society said they could not seize the dogs because there was no prior history of past incidents. The owner was ordered to keep the dogs restrained until a court date, but on Friday morning neighbors witnessed the dogs running free without restraints once again.

That sight was an unwelcome one for people who live in the area of 25th and Cornhusker Roads. The neighborhood had previously had it's website flooded with emails from concerned neighbors over the possibility of another attack given the nature of the first attack.

"He ripped my dog in half," said Arnold, the owner of the dog which has been euthanized. "If that dog comes in my yard and tries attacking me or my family, it's going to be dealt with."

The Nebraska Humane Society will hold the two German Shepherds until the owner's court date
