Emergency crews, including police, were called to the 100 block of Barker Road in Northfield Township around noon.
The 26-year-old suffered non-life threatening injuries to his head and neck, according to Lt. Tim Greene of the Northfield Township Police Department.
He was taken to University of Michigan Hospital in stable condition, according to Joyce Williams of Huron Valley Ambulance.
The man had walked back to his home after being attacked by the dog in the Northfield Estates mobile home park down the street, Greene said.
The man's half-brother, Andew Green, said relatives called an ambulance after seeing the injuries.
"He went into shock. It was bad," Green said. "(He had) gouges. Parts of him were gone. Parts of him were on the floor."
The victim of the attack was at a residence in the 200 block of Opal Lane when he got into an argument with another man, police said. The two men were known to one another.
There were three dogs in the home at the time. One of the dogs, a pit bull terrier mix, attacked the man outside the residence during the argument, Greene said.
The story describes the dog as a 'terrier mix'. I'm calling a spade a spade and referring to it as a "pit bull mix". |
Andrew Green said his half-brother then walked back to their residence after being bitten.
"... He ended up getting attacked by dogs and when he got back here we had to call the ambulance," Green said.
Police are continuing to investigate exactly what happened.
Meanwhile, the dog was taken into custody by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office Animal Control. He will be placed in quarantine as the investigation continues.
