Oklahoma: Paul Factor, suspected of burglarizing a garage and stabbing the owner's dog in the face, turns himself in

OKLAHOMA -- Oklahoma City Police say the man responsible for a graphic case of animal cruelty turned himself in police just 24 hours after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Police say Paul Edward Factor, 46, surrendered to police Thursday. On Wednesday, an arrest warrant was issued in relation to an incident that happened nine months ago.

Police say they were called to a Beck's Garage in north Oklahoma City on August 2, 2013 by the owner who said he arrived at work and found his dog with a large pocket knife lodged in her head.

Police said the blade was about 4 inches long and was just under the dog's right eye.

The dog, named Lucy, was taken to a local vet for treatment as police processed the crime scene.

Investigators say they learned from a neighbor that someone had tried to kick in her door around 2:00 AM that morning. She said she then heard a dog barking and then it yelped.

Lucy was taken to a vet and has recovered from her injuries.

Apparently, Paul Factor was so drunk he ended up being picked up that same night by the police and thrown into what's called the "drunk tank" to sober up. He was released before they knew about Lucy being stabbed and him being the prime suspect. Police searched for him and issued a warrant for his arrest.

Also, it's interesting to note that other news sites are saying that Paul Factor used to be a middle school teacher for the Yukon School District.

Some of the comments on the Sheriff's Office Facebook page:

Jon Munson - If you don't know this guy personally then you should refrain for such harsh comments. Nobody knows what really happened yet. He was my little league football coach and gym teacher in middle school and I can say he's done plenty of good things for a lot of us kids. Good people make bad choices including myself, although they may not be THIS bad. And nobody's kids need to be seeing people talk about their dad that way. Besides, it's none of our business what happened as it has ZERO impact on any of our lives.

Kenberly Chasteen - uhhm, he stabbed a dog in the head.....

Bryan Hull - I saw the dog with the knife sticking out of her face. That's all I need to know. Good luck trying to control public opinion of this douchebag

Amanda Medina-Baxter - I know the dog he assaulted and the business owners. It's everyone's business when there is a person willing to commit burglary and animal cruelty loose on the streets. If he was concerned about his family he wouldn't be out committing crimes. And to add it DOES have impact on our lives, even if i didn't know the parties involved it'd still impact me and my community when businesses are targeted and animals are left for dead.

Shonna Gammon - Cruelty to animals is, or should be everyone's business.

Lisa Kart - Burglary and assault is of concern to all. How would you feel if your loved one was assaulted, and no one helps, it none of our business. Studies of prison population, has shown links between animal abuse, and other criminal activities.

Jon Munson - I don't know why people are replying to this a year after the fact

Jon Munson is an idiot. He doesn't even see the irony in him making snide comments about people making comments "a year after the fact".

Janice Box Loyd - If he doesn't want the world posting their feelings about him then he should think before doing stupid things yes he stabbed a dog but if the owner would have been there would he have stabbed him

Susan Bacon - Of course it has an impact on all. It costs tax payers money to prosecute him, it costs the business owner money to fix the damage, if he's convicted tax payers dollars pay for him to be housed in prison, those are what comes to mind at this moment. Stealing makes prices go up. If he's such an all star why did he break in a business. It also cost vet bills to save the dogs life.

Shalie Byers - And BTK was a leader in my husbands boy scout troop when he was a kid.... still a sick sick man through all the good he did with kids.

Tonya Huckaby - Was he thinking of what his kids would think when he stabbed an innocent animal and stealing from innocent ppl? Hello no,YOU can't do the time, don't do the crime. We all have problems in life and yes we make mistakes, but you don't inflict your messed up life on others. Could have been YOU that caught the blunt end of his mistake. He 'll have plenty of time to think about it where he's going.

Pam Burlingham - It obviously does affect or have impact on your life. He was your teacher mentor and coach. He was responsible for molding the lives of very young and impressionable children. So please don't defend him for stabbing a dog in the process of breaking into a business because what if that had been a person instead. Would he just have said "oh excuse me I have the wrong address and walked away. I don't think so.

Jon Munson - So I'm confused... Nobody can answer this question. What do negative comments do to help this in any way? Does it change anything? Not to mention, THIS IS FROM A YEAR AGO!!!!!!

Steve Ulmer - Probably nothing Jon, but... People are gonna voice their opinion regardless.

Maurie Ann Brown - Omg guys why is this coming up again a year later. FB, there are some things that do not belong in throwback thursday! The crime was done, the criminal turned himself in, and the punishment was implemented. End of story. It is just pointless to talk about "old news".

Maurie Ann Brown is also an idiot. She tells everyone it's "old news" and they shouldn't still be talking about it. Yet here she is posting about it herself. Pot, meet kettle.

Donna Spell - What he did is horrific. Period. And people do need to know.
