Search on for dog that attacked man in Rochester Hills

MICHIGAN - He knows it is a dangerous dog.  It attacked him out of nowhere as he enjoyed a run on a popular trail. What he doesn’t know is where it went afterward.

It happened on Saturday evening as Dave Silwester enjoyed a run around dusk on the Macomb Orchard Trail in Rochester Hills.  He says he wasn’t far from 24 Mile and Dequindre.

He saw a lady with a brown dog that appeared to him to be a pit bull. When the dog saw him, it became agitated.  The woman walking the dog struggled to hold it back.

“I am not sure if the leash broke, or it just pulled it out of her hands,” said Dave.  “It bit the hardest on the left forearm and pulled me to the ground.”

The woman who had been walking the dog pulled the animal off of him as he fought for his life.  The dog then let go of his arm, and bit his hand.  That is when he got a fighting chance.

“It ripped the glove in two, but I got free,” said Dave.  “I just bolted at that point.”

He ran miles back to his car, not knowing if the woman would be able to keep holding on to the animal.

When he went to the hospital, he learned he needed 20 stitches.

He filed a report with Oakland County Animal Control,  but they say without an address or name of the dog’s owner there isn’t much they can do.

Dave is hoping someone out there knows the dog and does something to make sure it doesn’t attack again.

“This could happen to someone else, and it might not have the same ending,” said Dave.
