Connecticut: Timothy Olschafskie admits to torturing and skinning five cats that his fiance's family had rescued

CONNECTICUT -- A Connecticut man has been sentenced to two years in prison for killing five cats belonging to his fiancee's family — a crime that animal rights advocates protested outside of court.

Timothy Olschafskie (ol-SHAF'-skee) pleaded guilty Friday in Enfield Superior Court to multiple counts of maliciously killing animals. He was charged in the deaths of seven cats and admitted killing five.

Police say the cats suffered blunt force trauma, bone fractures, lacerations to internal organs and skin torn from their bodies on different dates in 2013.

Authorities said the killings happened when Olschafskie was staying at the Windsor Locks home of his fiancee's family, which took in the cats from an animal rescue program.

A prosecutor and Olschafskie's lawyer didn't immediately return messages Monday seeking comment.
