Board hears appeal in Macon attorney's "dangerous dog" case

GEORGIA -- The Macon-Bibb Board of Health is hearing an appeal of the decision that deemed Macon attorney Veronica Brinson's three dogs a danger to the public.

But Brinson says that label doesn't fit Coco, Pearl and Justice even though animal welfare officers blame them for the attack that injured a couple and killed their schnauzer Ronaldo in December.

During a hearing that started Wednesday afternoon, the health board saw pictures of the wounds.
Brinson kept pushing. questioning the expertise of the investigators.

"You have no active medical experience, isn't that correct? Since 2004?" Brinson said.

Watching the video and her snotty attitude, you wanna punch her in the face

The animal welfare officer, who is also a trained paramedic, had not worked in the medical field since 2004, but referenced her experience.

The Board then heard from Zarina Gore. She's the neighbor Claudia and Jose Munoz were staying with the day they lost their dog.

"I observed a long knock on my door saying call the police, call the ambulance from Jose Munoz," Gore said.

She also described seeing multiple injuries to Claudia's hand.

"What did you see after he had taken the bandages off the next day? A huge bite. Like someone just bit you really hard, like her hands got crushed," Gore said.

But it's still up to the board to determine whether Brinson's dogs are dangerous or not.

Brinson and her son were charged with reckless conduct for failing to properly contain their pit bulls.

No decisions were reached Wednesday. The hearing will resume Monday afternoon at 4:30 at the Macon-Bibb Health Department.
