Maine: After first denying it, Anthony Bari admits to smothering his dog to death. His punishment? 48 hours in the county jail. Seriously, Maine???

MAINE -- A man from Dexter accused of killing his dog has pleaded guilty.

Anthony Bari, 53, was sentenced Tuesday to 48 hours in the county jail for [horrific] cruelty to animals.

As part of a plea deal, prosecutors dropped a more serious charge of aggravated cruelty to animal.

Authorities say Bari told authorities last May he suffocated the Boxer-Pit Bull mix with a pillow.
