Charges laid after dog found buried in NE

CANADA -- Police have charged one man in connection to a vicious case of animal cruelty in Renfrew.

While not giving much in the way of motive, police say the nature of the attack on the Border Collie mix, Chevy, was vicious and abhorrent.

Thirty-four year-old Robert Nicholson is facing a slew of charges, including killing an animal without lawful excuse and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

Acting Staff Sergeant Jason Smith says the investigation remains ongoing, so details aren’t likely to be made public.

What we do know is the dog was abused before being stabbed to death in the neck and buried under the backstep, with police only saying it looks like the animal was killed as “part of a dispute.”
