Stupid woman tries to defend pit bull which mauled and killed poor Corgi

Neb. Humane Society: Pit bull-mix attacks, kills corgi

NEBRASKA -- The Nebraska Humane Society said the owner of a pit bull-mix has surrendered the animal, and it will be put down after it killed a corgi Wednesday.

Mark Langan, vice president of field operations for the humane society, said the pit bull-mix jumped a fence near 43rd and Cass streets and attacked the corgi that was running loose in the area around 11 a.m.

Just because the Corgi was running loose doesn't mean it deserved to die. There's a big difference between a dog which runs around peeing on bushes and tearing into trash and a dog which is loose and looking to attack and kill something.

Lorri Palmers, mother of dog owner, says she spent lots of time around the dog and felt it was a gentle animal that loved being around people:

"Sweetest little animal you could think of... she would hop in your lap and cuddle for hours and hours. Gentle from a little toddler on up... loved humans."

"The owner of both dogs were on the scene of the incident," Langan said. "They were both very upset about what happened."

Langan said the owner surrendered the pit bull to animal control. The owner was cited for dog damaging property.

"We see this every year with the weather warming up. More people are out, more dogs are out," Langan said.

Neighbor Kathy Dietsch has lived in the neighborhood a long time.

"40 years, 1975," Dietsch said. "We've been here a long time."

Her in-home day-care is busy, which is one reason why Dietsch said she's worried about the dog next door.

"There's been a few times where I was in the yard, and the dog jumped the fence," Dietsch said.

"Since they've had the big dogs, I've never been able to, you know, let my kids play down in my lower yard where my jungle gym and things are. Just because of safety concerns."

James Dugdale's home backs up to where the pit bull-mix used to live.

"I just had a feeling that there was a powder keg about ready to go off there," Dugdale said.
He said this isn't the first time there have been issues.

"I got my car, drove around there. There was a lot of neighbors congregating. The homeowner was grabbing her dog," Dugdale said.

Dead corgi owner says he doesn't blame the pit bull owner. Why NOT?!
Dietsch said she hopes everyone remembers to watch their pets.

"People out walking their dogs, letting their dogs out in the yard, they just have to, you know, keep an eye on them," Dietsch said.

The corgi's owner wasn't able to be reached for comment Thursday. The Nebraska Humane Society said there were no calls to the address on record, and they don't track these kinds of attacks.
