WISCONSIN -- A Reeseville woman suffered serious injuries after being attacked by a pit bull Thursday, Dodge County officials said.
Around 11:45 a.m., a Reeseville woman was walking her Dachshund on North Main Street in the village of Reeseville when she was attacked by a pit bull, according to a release.
The pit bull, owned by Elsia Acevedo, 31, escaped from a fenced-in backyard and ran across the street, officials said. The woman was transported to Beaver Dam Community Hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The Dachshund was also bit and required immediate veterinary care.
A citizen driving by was able to restrain the pit bull on the ground while waiting for crews to arrive, according to the release. The pit bull died while being restrained on the ground.
Officials said they believe the victim would have likely suffered more severe injuries had the pit bull not been restrained.
