Waco Police Officer Saves Woman From Pit Bull Attack

TEXAS -- A woman was rescued after a police officer saw her being attacked by a pit bull.

Tuesday evening, at approximately 6:00 p.m., an officer was in the area of North 20th and Mitchell streets, where he heard a woman screaming.

The officer was able to locate the female on the front porch of a house in the 2600 block of North 20ths Street and saw she was pinned against a front window of the residence with a large white pit bull on top of her, attacking her.

The officer ran to the aid of the woman and deployed his taser in an attempt to get the dog away from the female. Initially, the dog stopped, but as the taser cycled through, the dog attacked again. The officer attempted to physically pull the dog off of the victim, but was not successful due to the viciousness of the animal.

Due to the aggressive nature of the animal, it had to be tased several more times, eventually causing the animal to stop the attack on the female and flee from the scene.

Um, why didn't the officer SHOOT IT?!

It was discovered that the pit bull is owned by a roommate of the woman who was attacked. The victim received several bites to her hands and chest area and was treated on scene by ETMC.

Officers were able to locate the pit bull and Waco PD's Animal Control Unit has now placed the animal in quarantine.
