Claudette Lacast Convicted Of Animal Cruelty Charges

NEW YORK -- A Manorville woman has been found guilty of Animal Neglect.  Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk County SPCA said that a jury found Claudette Lacast guilty of the charge after 3 days of testimony in court.

He credited the hard work of the members of the SCSPCA and of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office in getting the conviction.

EARLIER STORY:
In December, the Suffolk County SPCA arrested Lacast on charges of animal cruelty for allegedly neglecting and abusing a 3-month old mixed breed puppy. The 56 year old Lacast, of 174 Eastport Manor Rd. in Manorville, was arrested by SPCA Detectives after they received a tip from a veterinarian at Bide-A-Wee in Westhampton.

Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk SPCA said that the male puppy was suffering from hypothermia, severe emaciation, and it had frostbite on its ears. Gross said that the puppy’s temperature didn’t even register on a thermometer and that it probably would have only survived a couple of more hours.

The puppy is still in critical condition and may possibly lose its ears due to the frostbite.
