TENNESSEE -- A man accused of dragging his dog on a chain from his car waived his case to the grand jury this week.
Timothy C. Sams, 42, of 997 Tom Hailey Blvd. in La Vergne, is charged with aggravated animal cruelty and resisting a stop/frisk/arrest or search in connection with the March 8 incident, according to his arrest warrant.
La Vergne Police Officer Chris Irwin stated he went to Sams' home after a witness told him they saw the suspect dragging a dog on a chain from his vehicle while driving along Tom Hailey Boulevard. The witness videotaped the incident.
While La Vergne officers investigating the complaint on Sams' front porch, the suspect tried to go back into the house, then resisted arrest.
When officers searched around the home, they found the dog in the garage suffering from multiple injuries and bleeding from several places.
General Sessions Court Judge Ben Hall McFarlin bound the case over to the grand jury.
