Maine woman high on bath salts stabbed ‘demon possessed’ dog: cops

MAINE -- A northern Maine woman was high on bath salts when she stabbed a neighbor's dog, claiming it was possessed by demons, authorities said.

Ashley Doody, 30, was at a neighbor's Perham home for Easter Sunday when she allegedly attacked the poor pooch — claiming the pet was "demon possessed" — and then threatened to harm herself with the same knife, the Bangor Daily News reported.

The mixed-breed dog named Trixie suffered serious injuries and lost a great deal of blood, Aroostook County Sheriff Darrell Crandall told the paper.

Fortunately, she was taken to a local veterinarian and is expected to make a full recovery, he said.

Doody, whose Facebook profile depicts her as a mother to young children, was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals — a class C felony.

Crandall said state animal welfare agents have been notified of the case so Doody does not have access to animals in the future.
