MASSACHUSETTS -- A Fitchburg woman is worried about her family after she says a neighbor's pit bull attacked and killed her chihuahua.
"I saw his head snap back and his eye looked up at me," said Eileen Limber, describing the final moments of her dog's life.
Bentley the chihuahua was attacked and killed by a neighbor's dog, and that dog remains in the neighborhood.
"Why would they leave a dangerous dog to repeat that behavior to another little dog a child or adult?" Kimber said.
The dog that attacked Bentley lives next door. He jumped the fence last Thursday without warning.
"We did not provoke that dog. That dog came over here for no reason. There was a little girl yesterday walking her chihuahua. How you know that dog wouldn't do the same thing?" Bentley's owner Jim Kimber said.
The dog is currently under the canine equivalent of house arrest: 10 days under quarantine.
FOX25's Jim Morelli spoke with the pit bull's owner.
He says his dog took off as he was reaching for a leash.
"If that had happened to my pet I'd be irate as well," Chris Bonsall, who owns the pit bull, said.
The Kimbers are definitely irate.
"I understand how this could happen," Stephanie Kimber said. "I genuinely don't understand."
They are also worried about the well-being of their other dog who witnessed the attack.
Morelli asked Bonsall if he was worried his dog would have another violent outburst. He said no.
"As a matter of fact he is a very gentle animal. That was the first incident he's ever had," Bonsall said.
Well, then, why wait for a second incident?? Owner in denial with a vicious pit bull. Recipe for disaster. Look for this Chris Bonsall to be in the news again, when this dog attacks again.
