MISSOURI -- A Columbia man is facing charges of animal abuse and stealing after allegedly hanging a dead rabbit from his apartment deck.
According to Columbia police, 23-year-old Nicholas Jones filled out adoption paperwork with the Columbia Humane Society on April 29 for the adoption of a rabbit.
While there, an employee who was with Jones left the room, whereupon Jones grabbed the rabbit and took off from the facility. Officers tried to contact Jones, at which time they received a call that Jones had hung a dead rabbit from his apartment deck.
He was arrested for stealing animals, and has subsequently been charged with animal abuse.
