Sarasota Sheriff's Office saves baby screech owl

FLORIDA -- The Sarasota Sheriff's Office may have a new mascot.

Investigative Aide Doug Sheardown learned of a baby screech owl on its own in his neighborhood and he didn't hesitate to help the bird, according to the Sheriff's Office's Facebook page.

Sheardown put the baby bird in a plastic bin and brought it to the Sheriff's Office.

 

 

Sheardown's new feathered friend hung out at the Sheriff's Office before being transferred to The Wildlife Center of Venice for treatment.
