KENTUCKY -- Complaints of barking dogs and smelly conditions brought Metro Animal Services to a Buechel home on May 19.
On Tuesday night, animal control officers found two dogs and four cats in what they call "unkept" conditions.
They returned to the home on Beargrass Avenue on Wednesday and gave a deadline for the homeowner to get the house cleaned up. Animal control is giving the homeowner 48 hours to get the house cleaned up and improve the conditions for her animals.
Firefighters, police and animal control entered the Buechel home following reports of a person possibly needing help, Tuesday.
They didn't find anyone inside, but discovered unsanitary conditions with pet waste and a bad smell throughout the home.
Animal Control said the two dogs and four cats appeared very healthy and that they were being fed on a regular basis, but the conditions the pets are living in need improvement.
"We have some concerns as to conditions, the environment the animals are being kept in and we will deal with those as soon as we can meet with the owner and have some discussion about that," Daisy Blakeman, a LMAS executive administrator, said. "We will give her a reasonable amount of time to bring the animals' environment to a more sanitary condition,"
Officials will be checking in again sometime Friday. Animal Control said it hopes to see a good faith effort to improve conditions for these animals.
