Geneva Animal Cruelty Sex Case

ALABAMA -- Veteran law enforcement officers describe it as one of the most disturbing cases they've ever investigated. A Geneva man is arrested for allegedly having sexual contact with the family's pet dog.

Jonathan Medley, 39, of South Academy Street was booked into the Geneva County jail on one count of animal cruelty.

Authorities say the man allegedly had sex with Buster, a two-year-old shih tzu. That’s a small breed dog that typically runs between five and 10 pounds.

Geneva Police say Medley reportedly committed the offense in order to get back at his wife. Medley felt she cared more for the dog than him.

"We've dealt with hungry dogs, abandoned dogs, but never with a dog that was sexually abused.
Speaking to her and him he was upset because she paid more attention to the dog than him, and this was her baby. This was his way of causing her the pain was to mess with the dog," said Geneva Police Lieutenant Ricky Morgan.

In Alabama, animal cruelty is a misdemeanor charge.

Medley's bond has been set at $535 dollars. Buster was examined by a vet and is reportedly doing well.
