Toddler attacked by pit bull in Rocky Mount

NORTH CAROLINA -- A pit bull attacked a little boy inside of his own home in Rocky Mount on Thursday.

Officials responded to the call in the 700 block of Lincoln Drive around 11 a.m. The one-and-a-half year old child had to be taken to Nash-UNC Hospital. He was said to have non-life threatening injuries.

The boy's mother was there during the attack. Animal Control seized the male pit bull for quarantine.

According to officials, the pit bull belonged to a friend of the family and did not live at the Lincoln Drive home.

Two other dogs were removed from the home due to "improper care conditions," authorities said.
Social Services also responded to the attack.

No charges have been filed, as the incident is still under investigation.
