NEW HAMPSHIRE -- Police and animal welfare groups say 59 dogs and 7 cats have been seized from "absolutely deplorable" conditions at a boarding and grooming business and rescue shelter.
Ossipee police Sgt. Robert King said Tuesday that the department got tips about conditions at Sweet Paws Spa & Inn and investigated Friday.
Inside, they found malnourished and dehydrated animals living in kennels that were covered in feces and urine.
King said the conditions were the worst he's seen.

King said owner Laurinda Miller will be charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty counts. A number on the business's website rang to a fax machine and a number listed in Miller's name was disconnected.
The animals were taken to Humane Society chapters in Conway, Ossipee and Laconia where they will be put up for adoption.
