Abandoned puppy found dead in box in Chandler

ARIZONA -- Chandler police are hoping someone can help them track down the person responsible for killing a puppy.

The dead dog was found in a box Friday morning at Stonegate Park, which is near McQueen and Warner in Chandler.

Investigators say it appears the box was cut to serve as a crate or crib for the puppy which was just six to eight weeks old.

It is believed the puppy is either a pit bull or a staffordshire terrier. 

Police say it appears the animal was abused and then abandoned.
